In this building, Congress Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, sat the first Senate and the first House of Representatives of the United States of America. Herein George Washington was inaugurated president March 4, 1793, and closed his official career when John Adams was inaugurated the second president of the United States March 4, 1797.
