POTD 2017/364. Where It All Began

It was exactly one year ago that I took this photography with my iPhone 6s. It's not the most impressive photograph I've taken of Luke Catwalker, but it is the very first. I took this before Jennifer Brewer Remington and I even knew we'd be adopting Luke.

A year ago we stopped into Loudoun County Animal Services's shelter thinking we might want to get a cat. While adoption was likely, it wasn't certain. I took this first photograph of Luke to send to my sisters Sharon and Amy, as well as my sister-in-law Lindsay, who were were messaging with about our options.

I was keyed in on some other cats and never noticed Luke. He was quietly hiding in this box, probably a little scared and shocked with what he was going through having just been dropped off that morning by his previous owners who could not keep him due to a child with allergies. I'm sure they were sad and devastated to have to part with him as much as he was in finding himself without his family, in this unusual place with other cats and barking dogs.

Jen was the one who said, "What about that cat?"

I couldn't even see him well at first until they opened up his cage which allowed me to get a view of him inside his box inside the cage.

I'm so glad she did find him. I'm sure we'd have found a wonderful match in any of the other cats we could have rescued that day, but I do know for sure that we're incredibly blessed to have found this sweet cat, with his sweet soul, funny personality, and intelligence to pick up on tricks.

We love you Luke more each day and can't imagine our lives without you! Thank you so much for the love you give back to us! Happy 1st Anniversary Day buddy!
