POTD 2017/285. The Cooperative Guest

It's Throwback Thursday friends and we're journeying back to the fall of 2013 for a face-to-face encounter with this fine specimen of a praying mantis who visited my home in McLean that year. I titled this back then for the mantis' willingness to put up with me taking so many photographs of him and getting my macro lens right up into his face.

It occurs to me that I've had the chance to photograph a mantis almost every year since, but this year I only saw one visiting briefly one night while sitting on the porch enjoying some wine, but that was it. Here's to hoping I'll still catch one this season!
