POTD 2017/012. The Sun Setting on Imaging USA

It's Throwback Thursday and with Imaging USA 2017 in my rear view, I had to take us back to my parting image from Imaging USA 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. As William Shakespeare wrote in The Tempest, Act 2, Scene I, "What's past is prologue," which is why I'll be back in Nashville next January for Imaging USA 2018.

Since I said it pretty well in that original post, and it sort of timelessly captures my feelings about this and all of the photography conventions I've attended to date, I'll just let my 2015 words do the job:

"When the sun set on Imaging USA, I was feeling a mix of excited motivation to go out and apply the many things I'd learned, and feeling sad that it was over. This was my first time attending the Professional Photographers of America's (PPA) annual Imaging USA conference. I'd previously attended two Photoshop World Conferences, one in Washington, DC and the other in Las Vegas, Nevada. In all cases these conferences leave me feeling the same in the end, excitement and sadness, and I suppose that will always be the case. There is something powerful about spending 3 or 4 days with a group of people with whom you share such a deep passion. I literally can talk all day about photography and no one will grow tired of it. And so it must be the same for Treckies at Star Trek convention, or for quilters at a quilting convention.

So based on my very positive experience, all I can say is, "Find your passion. And once you do, find your home in your passion among your fellow tribesmen by attending a conference, a workshop or a meeting with them and enjoy it for every bit that it's worth!"
